Fire Sprinkler Head Relocation for Renovations and Fit-Outs

We move, add and drop fire sprinkler heads when walls, ceilings or layouts change. Etobicoke, Mississauga and across the GTA.

When a space changes, the sprinkler heads often need to change with it. A new wall, a lower ceiling, a bulkhead, new ductwork or shelving can leave heads blocked, spaced too far apart or at the wrong height. We relocate fire sprinkler heads in offices, stores, condos and industrial buildings in Etobicoke, Mississauga and across the GTA.

When sprinkler heads need to be moved

  • You've added a wall and part of the room isn't covered anymore
  • A new drop ceiling or bulkhead has changed the ceiling height
  • Ductwork, lights, racking or storage is blocking the spray
  • Your inspection report says a head is obstructed or in the wrong spot
  • Your condo deficiency list says heads are too close to or too far from the slab

How we do it

  1. Site visit. We look at the new layout and the existing heads and piping.
  2. Quote. You get a fixed price, and we'll tell you up front if the job needs a permit or drawings.
  3. Shutdown. We set up the shutdown with your property manager and arrange fire watch if it's needed.
  4. The work. We move, add or drop heads with the right spacing and clearances.
  5. Back in service. We refill the system, check for leaks, put it back in service and give you a written record of the work.

Moving, adding and dropping heads

Most renovations need a bit of everything: some heads moved, new heads in rooms that didn't exist before, and heads dropped below a new ceiling. We do it all in one visit when we can.

Sprinkler work for tenant fit-outs

Why it should be a sprinkler fitter

There's more to it than moving a pipe. Spacing, obstructions, clearances and the system's hydraulic design all have to stay within NFPA 13. Spirit Fire is owner operated by a Red Seal Sprinkler Fitter, so the person who quotes your job is the person who does it.

FAQ

Can my general contractor move the heads?

It should be done by a qualified sprinkler fitter. A head in the wrong spot can leave part of the room unprotected and fail inspection.

Will the whole building's sprinklers be shut off?

Usually just the zone or floor we're working on, and only for as long as we need. We'll work out the timing with your property manager.

How long does it take?

Most small relocations are done in a day. You'll get a timeline with your quote.
